A practical nurse in King County has been formally charged with misconduct following an alleged romantic involvement with a prisoner, according to the Department of Health.
The Board of Nursing has accused Monica A. Davis, a licensed practical nurse, of unprofessional conduct as of March, reports the DOH.
The allegations state that from October to December 2022, Davis was involved romantically with an inmate at a Department of Corrections facility in Connell, where she was employed as a nurse, the DOH details.
Davis reportedly exchanged numerous romantic messages and participated in video calls with the inmate, funded through her personal debit card, as per details provided by the DOH.
This conduct is contrary to DOC Policy 850.030, which mandates employees to avoid “improper associations” and restrict interactions to what is necessary for their duties, according to the DOH’s findings.
The DOH further reports that Davis did not address the accusations of maintaining an inappropriate relationship by the set deadline of April 4, 2023.
